Earlier this week, some of our Lake Region seniors got the chance to visit MIT and Trinity in Massachusetts. Both trips lucked out with perfect weather days!
Welcome Andrew Henry!
METS is thrilled to announce the hiring of Andrew Henry, who will be our Advisor in the Central, Nokomis, and Searsport schools. Andrew will be in schools soon, but until then, here is a small blurb he wrote to introduce himself:
I graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and from Husson University in 2014 after completing the Secondary Pathways Teaching Certification Program. In addition, I taught high school English in the Academics program at Hancock County Technical Center from 2014 to 2016. My experiences working with many potential first-generation college students led me to seek out opportunities in the world of college-access programs like TRIO. One of my professional goals has been to help students find success in a post-secondary educational environment, and I’m thrilled to start doing that as a METS Advisor.
Welcome Amanda York!
We are very happy to introduce our new METS advisor for Lake Region High School and Middle School, Amanda York! Amanda will be starting in the schools soon, so stop on by her office and say hello!
I am very excited to join the METS team in the Lake Region area of Maine. I can’t wait to get started working with students in this program. I attended the University of Maine, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. In addition, I completed minors in Political Science and Women, Gender, Sexuality Studies. Prior to METS, I was a Case Manager in the Bangor area for children. My lifelong goal has been to dedicate my life to making the world a better place and mentor youth to achieve their highest levels of success possible.
