Starting in 2018, four University of Maine system campuses (University of Maine Augusta, University of Maine Fort Kent, University of Maine Machias, and University of Maine Presque Isle) will be offering free tuition to in-state students who are eligible for Pell grants. More details are still to come, but the article below does flesh out some of the requirements. One thing of note, if the program is a success, the other UMaine system schools may follow suit.

If so, Southern Maine Community College (SMCC) has announced a new program called “Construction Institute” which offers training, certificates and a two-year degree option.
