Darcy states that once she became determined to attend college, her motivation to succeed became her priority and her ambition. Darcy believes that her TRIO advisor, Anne St. Pierre, has been and continues to be most helpful in assisting Darcy in achieving her college dreams. From advanced study skills to completing college applications and being a great listener—(Anne and Darcy are already planning her grad school strategy!)—Darcy describes her TRIO advisor as “absolutely amazing”. Darcy has received over $4000 in local scholarships and credits this achievement to her All-Star field hockey status (she was captain) and her commitment to academics and community involvement. She completed her first semester at University of Maine with a 3.5 grade point average! Darcy’s future involves a successful experience at U Maine and then a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Darcy is happy to have had so much encouragement from her TRIO advisor and her family—all of whom are very proud of her accomplishments! She understands that a college education provides a foundation for an enjoyable life and career. |
